Hatch, Norton to be inducted into FLC Hall of Fame
 
DURANGO, Colo. – July 23, 2014 – Former Fort Lewis College men's basketball standouts Kevin Hatch and Troy Norton will be inducted into the 2014 FLC Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 19.

A resident of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Hatch graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2003 with a degree in Accounting.  A three-year member of the Skyhawks men's basketball program (2000-03), Hatch ranks 15th all-time in the career record books in scoring with 1,148 points.  His 1,148 points are also the second most points scored in a three-year career.  He netted 215 three-point field goals in his career, ranking him second all-time.  Hatch's 201 made free throws rank him No. 20 in the career books, and his 366 made field goals are 23rd on the career list.
 
He holds school season records in made three-point field goals (105, 2002-03), three-point field goal attempts (218, 2001-02), and three-point field goal percentage (.552, 2000-01).  He also holds the school record for best field goal percentage in a game (11-for-11, Nov. 30, 2001 vs. Western New Mexico), most made three-point field goals in a game (nine, Dec. 6, 2002 vs. Hawaii-Pacific), and best three-point field goal percentage in a game (6-for-6, Nov. 30, 2011 vs. Western New Mexico).
 
A two-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference first team, All-RMAC West Division first team and RMAC All-Academic selection in 2001-02 and 2002-03, Hatch was chosen as the Fort Lewis College Don Whalen Senior Men's Athlete of the Year and the Troy Bledsoe Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2002-03.  He earned RMAC West Division Player of the Week honors twice in his career on Dec. 3, 2001 and Jan. 28, 2002.
 
Hatch, who missed all but six games due to an injury in 2000-01, helped guide the Skyhawks to the 2001-02 RMAC Shootout championship title, and to the 2001-02 and 2002-03 RMAC West Division titles.  The 2001-02 season marked the Skyhawks first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament, which was followed by another bid to the post-season tournament in 2002-03.
 
"Kevin was the best player on our first RMAC championship team in 2002," said teammate and current FLC associate head coach Bob Pietrack. "He is a great person, great student and a great player who deserves to be in Hall of Fame."
 
A Finance Director of Marlin Equity Partners, Hatch is married to Terri Hatch.  They have five children: Haley, Tyler, Ashlin, Ali and Maiah.
 
A four-year starter and letterwinner as a point guard for the Raiders men's basketball team from 1989-93, Norton ranks second all-time in assists (455) and fourth in steals (180).  He shares the school record for most assists in one game with 15 at Metro State on Feb. 21, 1992.  He led the Raiders in assists during the 1989-90 (146), 1990-91 (133) and 1991-92 (128) seasons, and in steals in 1989-90 with 55.  In 1990-91, Norton recorded a team high in made three-point field goals with 33, and he held the team's highest free throw percentage, netting 71.1 percent of his free throws.
 
Norton earned All-RMAC honorable mention honors in 1990-91.
 
His older brother, Jeff Norton, was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.
 
"I believe Troy is one of the best point guards to have ever played at Fort Lewis College," said former teammate and Hall of Fame member (2001) Tim Fitzpatrick. 
 
Norton is a 1994 alumnus of Fort Lewis College.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration – Tourism and Resort Management option, and a minor in computer science and marketing.
 
Norton resides in Broomfield, Colo. with his 11-year old son Trey Dekaine Lauth-Norton.
 
Hatch and Norton are the 39th and 40th men's basketball student-athletes to be inducted into the FLC Athletics Hall of Fame, along with the 1953-54 NJCAA Tournament Team and four former coaches: Chuck Walker, Charles McLain, Don Whalen and Ned Wallace.
 
The Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1979 with former Fort Lewis A&M Junior College basketball coach Ned Wallace as the inaugural inductee. Three others were added in 1981. The Hall of Fame was dormant from 1981-94, when then-Director of Athletics Bruce Grimes resurrected the program. All totaled, 136 individuals and five teams will have been inducted.
 
The entire Hall of Fame weekend is open to the general public. Athletic alumni and, in particular, Athletic Hall of Famers are invited back to campus for the festivities. The entire weekend is hosted by the Historic Strater Hotel.  The 2014 Hall of Fame ceremony will be held in the Henry Strater Theater, located in the Strater Hotel.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with a hearty brunch meal.
