DURANGO, Colo. — Fort Lewis College men's basketball player Torrey Udall was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic first team, RMAC Assistant Commissioner Eric Danner announced today.

Two other Skyhawks — Kevin Flohr and Matthias Weissl — were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

Udall, a 6-foot-9, 208-lb. senior center from Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale, Colo., maintains a 3.72 grade point average in Business Administration-International Business option with minors in Spanish and Economics.

He earned RMAC All-Academic accolades for the fourth time in his career, having previously received first team RMAC All-Academic honors in 2011-12 and Honor Roll distinction in 2009-10 and 2010-11. He's also a two-time D2 Athletic Directors Association/WeatherPORT Academic Achievement Award recipient and was named the RMAC/Baden Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 21, 2011.

Udall ranks 13th in FLC history with 41 career blocked shots. During the 2012-13 campaign, he's averaged 8.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

“It is no surprise to see Torrey on the all-academic first team,” said FLC interim head coach Bob Pietrack. “Torrey represents everything that is right with college athletics. He is a great student, a fierce competitor and an outstanding ambassador of Fort Lewis College.”

Weissl, a 6-foot-2, 195 lb. senior guard from Salzburg, Austria, who graduated from Roaring Fork High School, carries a 3.64 GPA in Economics. The 2012-13 season marks the fourth year in a row that Weissl has been named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. He was also a two-time D2 Athletic Directors Association/WeatherPORT Academic Achievement Award recipient.

“Matthias has been a staple in our program for five years,” said Pietrack. “He deserves to be recognized for his contributions on and off the court.”

Flohr, a 6-foot-1, 170-lb. sophomore guard from Glenwood Springs High School in Glenwood Springs, Colo., has a 3.79 GPA in Business Administration.

“Kevin is an excellent student and a valuable member of our program,” said Pietrack.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC accolades, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve and have competed two consecutive semesters at their current institution. The student-athlete's cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to the basketball season beginning. RMAC sports information directors selected the first and second teams.

The Skyhawks (11-1 overall, 8-1 in the RMAC) are off to the best start in school history. FLC jumped eight spots to No. 17 in today's National Association of Basketball Coaches of America poll.

Fort Lewis makes its only road trip to Denver this weekend, visiting Regis (4-8, 3-6) and No. 2 Metro State (13-0, 9-0) on Friday and Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. both nights.
