COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference published its first weekly men's basketball release of the season last night.

Fort Lewis College, picked fifth in last week's RMAC men's basketball preseason coaches' poll, wrapped up its exhibition season with a 1-2 record. The Skyhawks lost to NCAA Division I Wyoming 82-61 last Wednesday in Ethete, Wyo., then split games against a pair of strong, NAIA teams from the Frontier Conference — an 83-63 loss at Westminster last Friday and a 56-54 win vs. 2011-12 Frontier Conference champion Montana Western last Saturday.

None of the three games count toward FLC's won-loss record. The two against the NAIA schools do count toward their teams' records, though, meaning those teams were playing for victories that could help get post-season bids at the end of the season, while FLC was sorting out its roster and giving valuable minutes to all of the players who made the trip.

“The three games were really good for our validation purposes,” said 17th-year FLC head coach Bob Hofman.

Fort Lewis opens its regular season at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 when it hosts Northern New Mexico in Whalen Gymnasium.

The Skyhawks open their 22-game RMAC schedule at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 at UC-Colorado Springs.

All of FLC's RMAC games plus the Nov. 15 tilt with Northern New Mexico will be broadcast live on KIUP (930 AM and www.radiodurango.com) by play-by-play announcer Ken Flint and color commentator John Francis.
