Skyhawks Add Two Points in Final Day of RMAC Championship

GOLDEN, Colo. – April 29, 2018 –Fort Lewis College finished 11th overall on Sunday in the final day of the 2018 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.  The Skyhawks scored 10 points overall.
 
New Mexico Highlands University won the women's championship title with 152 points.
 
Emma Alaimo tallied two points for the Skyhawks after finishing seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 11.43 meters.  That mark is the farthest any Skyhawk has jumped at a RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet.
 
Katie Hawkins placed 20th in the Javelin with a mark of 24.06 meters.  Ashley Kienitz added a 21st place finish in the Discus, recording a toss of 30.07 meters.
 
On the track, the Skyhawks placed ninth in the 4x400m relay.  Quinlyn Borneo, Sarah Chacon, Alaimo and Saylor Sargent posted a time of 4:04.33, setting a new program record.
 
"The 4x400m relay team ran tough and improved all season," said head coach Joshua Coon. "They are a quality group and will make their mark in future years."
