DURANGO, Colo. – March 26, 2018 – Fort Lewis College head football coach Joe Morris has announced the addition of assistant football coaches Mac Alexander (Defensive Coordinator) and Brandon Crosby (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach) to the Skyhawks coaching staff.

Mac Alexander comes to Fort Lewis College from Colorado Mesa University where he was a full-time assistant coach for defensive backs and the co-special teams coordinator since 2016.  His responsibilities included coaching the entire secondary for the Mavericks, designing and running position meetings, assisting in the strength and conditioning program, travel arrangements and summer camps.

"Anytime you can bring in a coach familiar with the conference, then the transition is more efficient," said Morris. "Mac is a young talented coach that will help in all phases of our program."

Alexander spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a graduate assistant at CMU, coaching the defensive line and defensive backs.  He competed in football at CMU from 2009-2011 as a defensive back, and played for the Mavericks basketball program from 2011-14.

Alexander graduated from Colorado Mesa in 2014 with a degree in Exercise Science.  He received his Master of Arts degree in Human Performance and Physical Education from Adams State University in 2016.

"I am very blessed and excited to join the Fort Lewis family, and to be a part of this dominant athletic department," said Alexander. "I am thankful for the opportunity Coach Morris has given me, and want to build on the culture he has built here at Fort Lewis. This program is about teaching young men on and off the field, and I am extremely excited to work with these student-athletes on a daily basis. My wife, Chazlyn, and I are honored to be here in Durango, and cannot wait to learn more about Fort Lewis and this community."

Brandon Crosby joins the Skyhawks staff from the University of Nevada where he served as a Quarterback Quality Control Coach and a graduate assistant for receivers for the past 14 months.  At Nevada, Crosby was responsible for creating practice and game plans, scouting reports and drills.  On game days, Crosby communicated directly with the Offensive Coordinator from the booth and assisted in play calling.  He also coordinated recruiting areas for the coaching staff, led recruiting meetings and coordinated recruiting visits.

"Coach Crosby is a player's coach who loves to study the game of football," said Morris. "He has worked under some great coaches and will bring a new dynamic to a very talented offense."

Prior to Nevada, Crosby was a receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at West Texas A&M from January 2016-January 2017.  Before WTA&MU, he was the running backs coach at LaGrange College, receivers and tight ends coach at Saddleback College, and receivers, running backs and tight ends coach at Willamette University.

Crosby received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Organizational Management from Vanguard University in 2011.  He also attended Baker University and Saddleback Junior College.  From 2001-02, he played wide receiver, defensive back and special teams at Saddleback.  From 2003-04, Crosby attended Baker University and accounted for 58 catches for 716 yards and nine touchdowns his senior year, while also playing special teams.

"I am very excited to be a part of this great school and community," said Crosby. "I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work for this football program and I can't wait to show people what we are all about."

The Skyhawks will open the 2018 season at home on Sept. 1 against New Mexico Highlands University.
