PUEBLO, Colo. – March 17, 2018 –Fort Lewis College sophomore
Emma Alaimo set a new Fort Lewis College women's outdoor track and field triple jump record Saturday afternoon at the Colorado State-Pueblo Early Bird Open. Alaimo recorded a mark of 11.45 meters to win the event, breaking Alexis Cox' record of 11.26 meters.
Alaimo also ran in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 26.73.
"We've been working on little things and it all came together today for Emma," said Skyhawks assistant coach
Maria Creech.
Senior Grace Pinkley took sixth in the 100 meter hurdles in 19.30 seconds. It marked the first time in program history a Skyhawk has ran the 100 meter hurdles.
Katie Hawkins cleared a height of 2.95 meters in the pole vault to finish eighth overall.
Victoria Fagan posted a personal best mark of 10.46 meters in the shot put to finish seventh out of 11 competitors.
Saylor Sargent took home second place in the 800 meter run, recording a time of 2:22.29.
"Saylor redshirted during the cross country season and has been very patient this season," said head coach
Joshua Coon. "She has a bright future here."
Junior
Quinlyn Borneo sprinted to a 13
th place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.98 seconds.
"Quin also had a great day," said Coon. "Maria and I were both impressed with her fight and how she raced."
Becca Bramley crossed the finish line in 4:58.82 in the 1,500 meter run, the fifth fastest time in the event.
"This was a great overall meet for out squad," said Coon. "The best attitude and fight I've seen overall. This is a great start to our outdoor season."
The Skyhawks will return to Pueblo on March 30-31 at the CSUP Spank Blasing Invite.
