2011-12 Daktronics All-Central Region women's basketball team

DENVER — Fort Lewis College's Dana Schreibvogel was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Central Region second team, regional coordinator Andrew Schlichting announced today.

Schreibvogel, a 6-foot senior forward from Weld Central High School in Keenesburg, earned Daktronics honors for the second year in a row, having been named to the first team in 2010-11.

Last week, she was one of just two players to be unanimous picks on the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference first team and was also named to the RMAC Shootout all-tournament team for the second year in a row. Last year, she was the RMAC Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player of the RMAC Shootout. She's also a three-time member of the RMAC All-Academic squad, having been named to the first team as a senior, second team as a junior, and Honor Roll as a sophomore. She was named to two different All-America teams as a junior — the Women's DII Bulletin All-America third team and WBCA All-America honorable mention. She has also received RMAC/Baden Player of the Week honors seven times during her career. Earlier this fall, she was named to Fort Lewis College's All-Century Team, which celebrated the top 100 student-athletes, coaches, and administrators in school history.

She ranks among RMAC leaders in field goal shooting (ninth, .490), scoring (12th, 13.4 ppg), free throw shooting (12th, .754), defensive rebounds (13th, 4.1 rpg), steals (15th, 1.6), assists (17th, 2.3 spg), and rebounds (26th, 5.2 rpg).

Schreibvogel ranks among FLC career leaders in free throws (third, 318), field goals (fifth, 474), scoring (sixth, 1,284), rebounds (ninth, 552), steals (15th, 1.6), and blocked shots (19th, 32).

Ten student-athletes from the Central Region were voted to the all-region first and second teams. Ashley Arlen, a forward from Wayne State (Neb.), was named the Central Region Player of the Year.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing, and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. Sports Information Directors from each school in the region nominated and voted for the Daktronics all-region teams.

First team all-region performers are eligible for the Daktronics All-America teams, which will be announced later this month.

No. 12 Fort Lewis (25-4 overall) won its second straight RMAC Shootout championship last weekend, defeating Colorado Christian 96-64 in Durango last Tuesday, and UC-Colorado Sprints 68-65 and Western State 87-78 last Friday and Saturday at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

Fort Lewis is seeded No. 3 in the NCAA Division II Central Regionals and will face seventh-seeded Mary (N.D.) at noon (MST) on Friday in the first round at Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb. Should the Skyhawks win, they'll advance to the regional semifinals and face the winner of Metro State/Minnesota-Duluth at 4 p.m. (MST) Saturday. The regional championship game will take place at 6 p.m. (MST) next Monday in Wayne.
