COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fort Lewis College women's basketball player
Dana Schreibvogel was named the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden Defensive Player of the Week, RMAC Assistant Commissioner
Sarah Meier announced today.
Schreibvogel, a 6-foot senior forward from Weld Central High School in Keenesburg, Colo., notched four steals and a dozen defensive rebounds in FLC's pair of RMAC wins last weekend. In doing so, she became the 11th player in school history to notch 500-plus career rebounds and currently has 501 career caroms.
She scored 12 points with nine rebounds (eight defensive), three assists, and two steals in FLC's 116-47 win over Western New Mexico on Friday. She added 10 points, five rebounds (four defensive), four assists, and two steals in FLC's 96-56 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday.
As a team, the Skyhawks held their opponents to .327 shooting from the field (36 of 110) this weekend, while forcing 66 turnovers and coming up with 45 steals.
Schreibvogel received RMAC Offensive or Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second this season. She was previously named the RMAC/Baden Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 19, 2011. She has won RMAC weekly honors seven times during her career.
The seventh-ranked Skyhawks (18-2 overall, 15-1 in the RMAC) hit the road for its next four contests, including a pair next weekend at Colorado State-Pueblo (17-3, 14-2) at 5:30 p.m. Friday and UC-Colorado Springs (10-11, 6-10) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
