COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fort Lewis College's Alberto Capdepon was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic second team, RMAC Assistant Commissioner Eric Danner announced today.

Kyle Woodson was named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

Capdepon, a 5-foot-10, 160-lb. sophomore central midfielder from I.E.S. Vincent Andrés Estelles in Almoradi, Spain, carries a 3.38 grade point average in Business Administration-International Business. Earlier this fall, he was named to the Preseason All-RMAC squad. He has two assists thus far in 2012.

“Alberto is a very dedicated student-athlete and spends countless hours working hard at his studies,” said fourth-year FLC head coach Oige Kennedy. “It's remarkable how much he has achieved in his short time in the U.S., particularly considering he had limited experience with English before arriving at Fort Lewis College. We are truly grateful in the impact he has had on everyone associated with the program.”

During his career, Capdepon has amassed 16 points on three goals and 10 assists. During his freshman season, Capdepon played a key role in helping Fort Lewis win its third NCAA Division II national championship. He was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region second team and the RMAC All-Tournament Team while finishing the season with 14 total points on three goals and eight assists.

Woodson, a 5-foot-10, 165-lb. senior from Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., maintains a 3.39 GPA in Psychology. A starting outside defender, Woodson has one goal in 2012.

“Kyle has been a real positive impact on the group since his arrival,” said Kennedy. “He works extremely hard at his studies and stayed in school this summer working hard on some extra academics. We will certainly miss him when he graduates this year.”

Woodson came to Fort Lewis via NCAA Division I Howard University, where he played in 2010, and Yavapai College, where he played in 2008 and '09. As a freshman, he helped Yavapai to the 2008 NJCAA national championship. He received the Roughrider Award as a sophomore.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. The student-athlete's cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to soccer season beginning. RMAC sports information directors at schools that sponsor the sport of men's soccer selected first and second teams.

Fort Lewis (7-4-1 overall, 4-3-1 RMAC) has a rare home-and-road weekend coming up. They host Colorado State-Pueblo (4-7-1, 2-5-1) at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Dirks Field, then travel to UC-Colorado Springs (6-5-0, 5-3-0) at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Friday's meeting between the Skyhawks and ThunderWolves is their first of 2012. FLC has dominated the all-time series, leading 39-7-2 and winning the past two meetings.

Fort Lewis has also dominated the series with UC-Colorado Springs, leading 38-6-4. The Mountain Lions snapped a 22-game skid at the hands of the Skyhawks by upsetting FLC 3-2 in Durango on Sept. 23.
