DURANGO, Colo. — Fort Lewis College's All-Century Team, which includes 100 student-athletes, coaches, and administrators from FLC's first century, will be honored as part of the 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame breakfast and induction ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2011, in the Student Union Ballroom.

A series of online polls at www.goskyhawks.com allowed fans to choose their favorite men's basketball (Steve Schutz, 1993-96), women's basketball (Abby Jackson, 2007-11), men's soccer (John Cunliffe, 2003-06), women's soccer (Hayley Hollenga, 2007-present), volleyball (Nicole Schwab, 2004-07), and football (Mark Meng, 2007-08) players in school history. These six were announced yesterday.

The remaining 94 were chosen by FLC's Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

"This list represents the best of the best in terms of Fort Lewis College athletics," said Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations and Communications Chris Aaland, who chairs the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. "Beavers, Aggies, Raiders, and Skyhawks are represented on this squad. Most of the student-athletes were All-Americans. Several were national champions or finished highly in NCAA and NAIA competitions. Each of them played a key role in helping build one of the finest small college athletic programs in the nation."

Fort Lewis College fields varsity, NCAA Division II teams in basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball for women; and in basketball, cross country, football, golf, and soccer for men. Additionally, the Skyhawks compete at the USA Cycling Division I level in the cycling disciplines of mountain biking, cyclocross, road racing, and track racing. Individuals from all of these sports were considered for the All-Century Team, as were those from past FLC varsity sports like baseball, gymnastics, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, tumbling, and wrestling.

Members of the All-Century Team will receive commemorative Fort Lewis College Centennial medallions at the ceremony.

In addition to the All-Century Team, the Sept. 18 event will also feature the induction of the Hall of Fame Class of 2011, which was announced on July 28. FLC's newest Athletic Hall of Famers include Richard Bent (football, 1973-76), Steve Berglund (men's soccer, 1997-2000, and football, 2001), John Chisholm (football, 1972-75), and David Shrum (gymnastics, 1963-67).

Those being honored at the ceremony will also be recognized during home athletic events throughout the weekend of Sept. 16-18.
