ALAMOSA, Colo. — Six Fort Lewis College lacrosse players — Katharine Allen, Amanda Cawker, Jessica Norby, Jenna Steele, Toki Tajima-Prodnuk and Whitney Wood — earned Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Academic honors, WILA Commissioner Chris Day announced today.

“These student-athletes possess hardworking and dedicated attitudes that are present both on the field and in the classroom,” said first-year Skyhawk head coach Kelsey MacDonald. “I am very proud of them for their All-Academic and athletic success this year.”

Allen, a 5-foot-6 senior defender from Westminster Academy in Memphis, Tenn., carries a 3.79 grade point average in Exercise Science. She appeared in 14 games in 2011, starting 13 times and amassing six total points (two goals, four assists), 14 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and nine draw controls. Allen played her last two years at Fort Lewis after starting her collegiate career at Colorado College.

Cawker, a 5-foot-5 freshman attack from Valley Center High School in Valley Center, Calif., maintains a 3.55 GPA in Political Science. She started and played in all 14 games for the Skyhawks in 2011. She finished the season with 24 total points (17 goals, seven assists), an FLC single-season record 27 draw controls, 13 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Norby, a 5-foot-7 freshman attack from Chaska High School in Chaska, Minn., holds a 3.53 GPA in Environmental Geology. She previously earned WILA Offensive Player of the Year, first team All-WILA and WILA Offensive Player of the Week honors (twice) in 2011. She set FLC single-season and career marks for most total points (71), points per game (5.07), goals (43), goals per game (3.07), assists (28) and assists per game (2.00) in 2011 and led the WILA in goals, assists and total points.

Steele, a 5-foot-6 sophomore defender from West Linn High School in West Linn, Ore., carries a 3.81 GPA in Exercise Science. She finished the season with 20 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and seven draw controls, earning second team All-WILA honors in the process. She also scored the game-winning goal in her only shot of the season — a free position shot that proved to be the deciding goal in a 16-10 win over Centre on April 16.

Tajima-Prodnuk, a 4-foot-9 freshman attack from Westview High School in San Diego, has a 3.92 GPA in Environmental Biology. She appeared in all 14 games, starting 13 times for the Skyhawks. During the season, she notched 15 total points (eight goals, seven assists), 13 ground balls, 11 draw controls and four caused turnovers.

Wood, a 5-foot-9 freshman defender from Chaparral High School in Parker, Colo., carries a 3.72 GPA in General Biology. She played in nine games, registering five goals, five draw controls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers.

To earn WILA All-Academic honors, a player must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and appear in half of the team's WILA games.
