COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Four members of the Fort Lewis College men's cross country team earned
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic accolades, RMAC Assistant Commissioner Eric Danner announced on Tuesday.
Sophomores
Jesse Allen,
Derek Laue, and
Greg LeBlanc and senior
Logan Ott were all named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
“We're proud to have four athletes qualify for this award,” said 11th year FLC head cross country coach Ken Flint. “It speaks well for the tradition of academic excellence of our student-athletes.”
Allen, who graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in Steamboat Springs, Colo., maintains a 3.67 grade point average in Exercise Science-Physiology option.
Laue, who graduated from Bayfield High School in Bayfield, Colo., carries a 3.49 GPA. He has yet to declare a major.
LeBlanc, who graduated from Wood River High School in Hailey, Idaho, has a 3.39 GPA in Biology.
Ott, who graduated from Mancos High School in Mancos, Colo., maintains a 3.87 GPA in Physics. He is a two-time RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection and received the D2 Athletic Directors Association/WeatherPORT Academic Achievement Award three years in a row.
“Logan has set a fine example of academic excellence that the other athletes are following,” said Flint. “The standard has been set high by Mr. Ott.”
No FLC women's cross country runners received the distinction.
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. The student-athlete's cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to soccer season beginning. RMAC sports information directors at schools that sponsor cross country selected first and second teams.
Through the completion of the fall sports season, Fort Lewis has had 31 student-athletes in the sports of women's soccer (10), football (7), men's soccer (6), volleyball (4), and men's cross country (4) earn RMAC All-Academic accolades. Academic all-conference honors for winter and spring sports — men's and women's basketball, golf, women's lacrosse, and softball — will be announced in 2012.
