COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fort Lewis College defensive tackle
David Ferris was named the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, RMAC Assistant Commissioner
Sarah Meier announced yesterday.
Ferris, a 6-foo5-1, 260-lb. senior from Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, Calif., had nine tackles (four solo), including 3.5 behind the line of scrimmage for 11 yards in losses, one quarterback sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in the final game of his collegiate career — a 6-3 win at New Mexico Highlands last Saturday.
Ferris had the game of his career, recording nine tackles (four solo), 3.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for -11 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked punt, and a quarterback sack for -4 yards.
“The guy was everywhere,” second-year FLC head coach Rivas-Sandoval said of Ferris following the Skyhawks' victory Saturday. “There wasn't a better defensive player in the conference today.”
