COLORADO SPRINGS – Fort Lewis College freshman volleyball player
Jenna Kinzer was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden Defensive Player of the Week today, RMAC Assistant Commissioner
Sarah Meier announced today.
Kinzer averaged a league-best 5.81 digs per set (93 total) in her collegiate debut, helping the Skyhawks start their season 4-0 with wins over Chaminade, Abilene Christian, Minnesota St.-Moorhead and Augustana at last weekend's Marriott/Residence Inn Oredigger Classic, hosted by the Colorado School of Mines.
Kinzer is a 5-foot-9 defensive specialist from Rampart High School in Colorado Springs. She was a two-year starter for the Rams at defensive specialist and outside hitter, earning first team all-conference honors
“Jenna stepped in immediately and played like a veteran,” said seventh year FLC head coach Shelly Aaland. “Her no-ball-hits-the-floor attitude allowed us to dominate at times and persevere when we were challenged.”
Kinzer gets a homecoming of sorts as the Skyhawks return to action at the Marriott Invitational, hosted by CU-Colorado Springs next weekend. The Skyhawks face CU-Colorado Springs at 11:30 a.m. and Grand Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, then square off against Lees McRae at 9 a.m. and Winona St. at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.
