July 15, 2010. Durango, CO. - He is respected, ethical, and a winner who serves as a shining example in the sport of collegiate basketball. Just a little over three months after Head Coach Mark Kellogg took his team on an historical run to the NCAA Division II National Championship game with a 35-4 record, Fort Lewis College women's basketball 3-Time RMAC Coach of the year continues to be in high demand at speaking engagements across the country.
With over 800 high school coaches on hand, Coach Kellogg along with University of Memphis head coach Melissa McFerrin will be the only two college coaches invited to share in the speaker spotlight this week. Kellogg will present two sessions at the Texas Girls Coaches Association on Friday, July 16th in Arlington, Texas, as part of the organization's 2010 Summer Coaches Clinic. Kellogg will present two one-hour sessions on “Fort Lewis's Attacking Zone Defense” and “Skyhawk Early Offense into 4 out Motion”.
The Texas Girls Coaches Association is one of the largest associations of coaches, and the largest association for coaches of girls' athletics in the United States. “It is an honor to be able to speak to such an incredible group of high school coaches. In being a native from Dallas, TX as well as starting my coaching career at West Texas A&M, I am excited to be able to give back to the high school coaches here and share about the many exciting things that are happening at Fort Lewis College.”
Fort Lewis has had a few Texas natives on their roster including recent graduate Lauren McCulloch from Allen, TX along with incoming standout freshman Christie Groh from the highly talented Southlake Carroll Senior High School in Grapevine, TX.
Fort Lewis plans to open its 2010-2011 season with three exhibition games against Utah Valley University, BYU, and Arizona State University.
