Fort Lewis Receives No. 1 seed in NCAA Women’s Basketball Central Region; Will Host Tournament

Four RMAC Teams receive bids to NCAA Tournament (No. 1 Fort Lewis, No. 6 Adams State, No. 7 CSU-Pueblo, No. 8 Colorado Mines)

 

March 7th, 2010.  INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced tonight its 64-team bracket for the 2010 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.  Fort Lewis College received the top seed in the Central Region and will host the tournament in Durango, Colo., March 12, 13 and 15. 

 

Fort Lewis (30-3) will face eighth seed Colorado Mines (20-8).  Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference automatic qualifier No. 2 Wayne State (26-6) will face the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference automatic qualifier and seventh seed CSU-Pueblo (20-10) .  Fourth seed Augustana (23-6) will meet fellow conference member and fifth seed Minnesota-Duluth.  Rounding out the bracket will be No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul (24-5) and No. 6 Adams State (19-6).

 

Each regional champion will advance to the Elite Eight Tournament March 23, 24 and 26 at St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo.  The complete bracket will be released tonight at www.ncaa.com.

Friday:

Game #1 – Wayne State (#2) vs. CSU-Pueblo (#7) @ 1:00pm

Game #2 – Concordia St. Paul (#3) vs. Adams State (#6) @ 3:00pm

Game #3 – Fort Lewis (#1) vs. Colorado Mines (#8) @ 6:00pm

Game #4 – Augustana (#4) vs. Minnesota-Duluth (#5) @ 8:00pm
