Lacrosse Coach Queisser-McPeake resigns after 2010 season

Queisser-McPeake to leave Fort Lewis after 2010 season
March 30, 2010.  Durango, CO. -  After two years with the Skyhawks, Coach Kelley Queisser-McPeake resigns as head coach after the 2010 season. She steps down after getting the news that her husband, Jay McPeake, will be called into Active Duty for service. Kelley plans to move back to her hometown of San Diego to be closer to her family and friends where she can get constant support.

"This is a very tough decision to make. I LOVE coaching and enjoyed building the Fort Lewis Lacrosse program. I will miss working with the tremendous group of young ladies. They are wonderful people, students, and lacrosse players. I know they will continue to pass on my passion for the game. I wish the team the best of luck in the future. GO SKYHAWKS!" said Queisser-McPeake.

Fort Lewis College Athletic Director Kelly HIggins commented on Coach Queisser's resignation saying, "Kelley has done an incredible job starting a program from scratch in SW Colorado. She's recruited some strong students to FLC, taught the game to newcomers, sold the program, and has shown the tremendous energy and qualities I knew it would take to get the program off the ground. It will become a success because of her efforts and I wish her and Jay all the best. They are tremendous people and will be missed by all at FLC and in Durango!"

A national search will begin in the near future.

Be sure to come support the Fort Lewis Women's Lacrosse team Friday April 2nd at 2pm and Sunday April 4th at 11am at the Ray Dennison Football Field.
