Mackey Selected as RMAC/Baden West Division Player of the Week

Katie Mackey- West Division Player of the Week
February 8th, 2010- Senior Katie Mackey was selected as the RMAC/Baden Player of the Week for the West Division this week after leading the Skyhawks to two road victories this weekend. In a 67-63 win over Mesa State, Mackey posted 14 points going 5 for 8 from the floor while also snagging six rebounds and two assists. In their Saturday night win over Western State, she tallied 20 points which includes all seven of her free throw attempts, three rebounds, and two assists. For the weekend, she averaged 17 points and 4.5 rebounds while also making 10 of 16 fields goals (.625), 7 of 11 from long range (.636).
Mackey is only the second player on the women's team, behind teammate Allision Rosel, to win the West Division Player of the Week honor. With the two victories this weekend, the Skyhawks improved their record to 22-2 overall and 12-1 in the RMAC conference. Mackey and the Skyhawks travel to Las Vegas, NM on Friday to take on New Mexico Highlands and then continue on to Pueblo, CO to take on the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves. The Thunderwolves are tied for second place in the RMAC standings along with Adams State and Colorado Mines, all who have a 10-3 record in the conference.
