February 4th, 2010. Durango, CO. - The Fort Lewis Women's Soccer Program had seven high school seniors sign National Letters of Intent. The 2010 class has a lot to live up to considering the loss of five graduating seniors that finished as the most successful class in the 15-year history of the program. However, Coach Damian Clarke seems to be finding a familiar yet successful pattern in his recruiting efforts. In the 2008/2009 seasons, a total of five players from New Mexico joined the program who had all shared multiple state championships at the club level in their youth soccer careers. This year the majority of the recruits coming in have a similar story considering that four out of the seven girls are products of the Gilbert Arsenal Soccer Club from the Phoenix area. Together, these four girls have been state runners-up for seven consecutive years.
Clarke has also added another local product in Morgan Gurule, as well as 2 more New Mexican products in Therese Romero, and Lauren Riley. Clarke has had a lot of success with the recruiting that he has done in his native state of New Mexico. Last year the RMAC defensive player of the year (Nichole Kluk), and the programs first All- American (Jaime MacArthur) were also New Mexico products. This year Clarke is also adding the programs first Nevada product, Amanda Snider.
