COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced the 2010 RMAC volleyball championship bracket yesterday. Fort Lewis College (15-11 overall, 9-9 RMAC) is seeded eighth and will face 2010 RMAC champion Nebraska-Kearney (26-4, 17-1) in the league championship quarterfinals at 6 p.m. (MST) Thursday at the Health & Sport Center in Kearney.
The host Lopers are ranked No. 10 in the latest AVCA Division II poll.
Other matchups include third-seeded Metro State (No. 14 in the nation, 22-5, 16-2) vs. sixth-seeded Western New Mexico (13-11, 10-8) at 11 a.m. MST; second-seeded and 2010 RMAC West Division champion Mesa State (19-8, 13-5) vs. seventh-seeded UC-Colorado Springs (16-12, 10-8) at 1:15 p.m. MST; and fourth-seeded Colorado Mines (19-8, 12-6) vs. fifth-seeded Regis (16-11, 11-7) at 3:45 p.m. MST.
Semifinals are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MST) and 6 p.m. (MST) Friday. Should the Skyhawks defeat the Lopers, they would play in the second semifinal game.
The 2010 RMAC title bout is scheduled for 3 p.m. (MST) Saturday.
All games will be played at the Health & Sport Center.
The RMAC tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II volleyball championships, which start the following week at a site to be determined.
