Basketball Teams Earn RMAC All-Academic Honors

13 Skyhawk Players Earn RMAC Academic Honors
January 21st, 2010.  Colorado Springs, CO. -  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is recognizing first team, second team and honor roll all-acdemic performers in the sport of men’s basketball. To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their GPA is what they had earned prior to basketball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of men’s basketball selected First and Second Team Academic All-RMAC. 

Fort Lewis placed four players (Men & Women) on First Team All-Academic and another 9 players on the All-Academic Honorable Mention Team.

Sophomore Matt Morris was the only men's basketball player to make 1st Team All-Academic with a 3.63 GPA. Morris' is majoring in Business Administration and is currently averaging 12.4ppg. Matthias Weissl (3.44 GPA), Kyle Behrens (3.53 GPA), Connor Drumm (3.74 GPA) and Torrey Udall (3.60 GPA) were all selected to All-Academic Honorable Mention.

The women's team was able to recognize eight players with All-Academic honors. Seniors Katie Mackey, Laura Haugen and Audrey George were all selected to 1st Team All-Academic. George is majoring in Psychology and has a 3.69 GPA and is averaging 10.4ppg. Laura Haugen who is also a Psychology major has a 3.63 GPA and is averaging 8.2ppg. Mackey, an Exercise Science major has a GPA of 3.55 and is averaging 11.7ppg this season. Stephanie Beeman (3.32), Abby Jackson (3.66), Mary Rose Paiz (3.74), Jenna Santistevan (3.69) and Dana Schreibvogel (3.58) were all named to All-Academic Honorable Mention.
