The Fort Lewis Women's lacrosse team played their best game thus far into their existence on Friday, falling to
Fontbonne University (MO) by a final score of 11-5 in Colorado Springs.
The Skyhawks offense was led by
Hallie Linnenkamp, who scored two goals in the game, while the offense was able to garner 12 shots on goal in the game. The play of goalkeeper
Chelsea Stevens was nothing short of solid, making nine saves through the game.
Through the solid play of the team, the first half of the contest was not kind, with Fontbonne getting off to a 8-2 lead at halftime. The Skyhawks came together in the second half, equaling Fontbonne's three goals.
In the victory, Fontbonne was led by standout Katie Radeakar who scored six goals in the 60 minutes of play.
The Fort Lewis defense also played well, forcing Fontbonne into 23 turnovers, and getting 13 clears.
With the loss, the first year Fort Lewis lacrosse team falls to 0-5 on the season, facing Colorado College on Saturday afternoon.
