November 5th 2009.  Durango, CO. -  The Fort Lewis College Men's Basketball team will begin their 2009-10 season with an exhibition game against Division I Northern Arizona University Friday, November 6 in Flagstaff, AZ at 7:30 pm. The Skyhawks and Lumberjacks meet again for the 2nd time in four years. 

Fort Lewis, who was ranked 2nd in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) West Divsion preseason polls, finished the 2008-09 season 24-10 overall and 13-6 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks, under the direction of Head Coach Bob Hofman have made an appearance in the national tournament six of the last eight years ('02, '03, '05, '07, '08, '09). The Skyhawks return only one starter in junior  DeAndre Lansdowne who was selected as the Preseason RMAC Player of the Year, Preseason 1st Team All-RMAC and 1st Team All-RMAC West Division. 

The Skyhawks return six reserves from last season; Mark Jeranko, Kyle Behrens, Taylor Faust, Connor Drumm, Kit Hensel and redshirt sophomore Matt Morris. Fort Lewis also brings in transfers David Kanyinda, Matt Billups and Daniel Steffensen. The Freshman include Matthias Weissl, Torrey Udall, Bryse Velasquez, Mike Matthews, Tim Fields and Louie Labate.
