John Chisholm was a four-year letterwinner at quarterback for the Raiders football team from 1972-75. The epitome of a student-athlete, he earned NAIA Academic All-America honors and NAIA All-America honorable mention as a senior in 1975. He was also chosen as an RMAC Honor Scholar-Athlete and named to the Academic All-RMAC squad that same season — one that saw him finish as the second leading passer in the NAIA District VII. He was also a Rhodes Scholar semifinalist and was the final cut by the Philadelphia eagles prior to the 1976 NFL season.

Chisholm ranks eighth in FLC in career passing yards (3,457) despite splitting time with fellow FLC Athletic Hall of Famer Ron Trujillo at quarterback for most of his career. In fact, Trujillo and Chisholm are separated by just 126 yards in career passing.

“John was a complete student-athlete,” said his former FLC coach, Jay McNitt. “Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil told me to my face when he cut John from the squad that he had made a big mistake. Weeks later, he tried to get him back. But John refused the offer ... he was already employed by a Texas oil firm.”

He graduated from Fort Lewis in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 1995, he was chosen as Entrepreneur of the Year for Houston, Texas.

In 1985, Chisholm founded ProTechnics, which grew to become an international oil and gas energy service company. After developing three patents, he sold the company to Core Laboratories in the late 1990s and became the company’s worldwide head of sales and marketing for two years.

In 1999, he founded Wellogix which is a business process software company that has six U.S. patents. Recently, the company is in intellectual property licensing and trade secret discussion and litigation. A federal court recently awarded Wellogix a significant judgment in a trade secret litigation.

In 2009, Chisholm was asked to be the interim president and chairman of Flotek Industries, a NYSE company. He was elected in 2010 to be the chairman of the board and president on a full-time basis and since that time the company is the No. 1 company on the entire New York Stock Exchange in percentage increase in shareholder value in the last 52 weeks. He also serves on the board of directors of Natural Gas Services, a NYSE company.

Prior to Chisholm’s senior year at Fort Lewis, he married the former Terry Hampton. Each graduated from FLC in 1976. They have a daughter, Brandy, a son, Brett, and a grandson, Wyatt.

Chisholm’s hobbies and interests include his family, golf, and rock and roll.
